PTO Day #6: There is no Magic

Today i went home (parent's house in Milpitas) and watched the Los Angeles Lakers vs Orlando Magic game in the NBA Finals. I was rooting for Orlando. It can be very frustrating to see highly gifted athletes do such stupid things.

Magic was leading by 3points in the game with just 11 seconds left. Derek Fisher of the Lakers was dribbling up the court with the ball knowing the only chance the Lakers had to win the game was to make a 3-point shot. Orlando knew the only way they could lose is to allow a 3-pointer. Orlando could have done several strategies to prevent this from happening. The Magic could have fouled Fisher to give him two free throws or they could have let him dribble past for a dunk even. But inexplicitely the bonehead Magic defender, Jameer Nelson backed up and allowed Fisher to take a 3 point shot which of course went in and allowed the Lakers to win in overtime.

It just astonishing and upsetting how a player wasn't thinking at a crucial point in the game and in a championship game. But like in a corporation, when an employee makes an avoidable mistake, part of the blame also goes to the management and in this case the Orlando coach made a mistake by not telling his players to foul. oh well, there are alot of upset Orlando fans and alot of joyous Lakers fan and alot of people who now learned how to lose an NBA championship game.
